In 1979, Japanese electronics engineer Susumu Tamura designed the Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer to compete with the Boss OD-1.

His unique soft-clip overdrive circuit went on to become one of the most copied, cloned, and modified guitar effects of all time.

Known for its midrange clarity and organic, tube-like tone, the “808” quickly became the amp-pushing pedal for countless guitarists - including a soon-to-be legendary blues player from Texas named Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Over the past four decades, the 808 has continuously evolved and spawned countless imitations across the gamut of pedal providers.

Condensing Tamura-san’s 50+ years of experience in the field of overdrive design into a single, powerful package, Source Code reimagines the classic TS circuit that so many love (and some love to hate!) and launches it into the future.

Since 2021, Tamura-san has been carefully analyzing every aspect of his enduring soft-clip circuit to optimize its performance.

Designed for players who worship at the altar of tone, Source Code builds upon the strengths of the classic “green box” while offering novel improvements that enhance the original circuit & expand its capabilities into new sonic realms.

Runs on a standard 9V power supply or 9V battery. The internal bipolar voltage regulator boosts operation to 18V delivering improved dynamics and massive headroom.

Multi-transistor input buffer preserves your guitar’s natural tone, while the exclusive “Magic IC” OpAmp injects complex harmonics and an amp-like feel that responds to every nuance of your playing.

The all-new “BITE” control lets you alter the balance of odd and even-order harmonics: at higher settings, it shifts from symmetrical to asymmetrical clipping, emulating the saturation and feel of high-gain tube amps.

Built-in +6 dB boost gives your signal extra punch without coloring your tone, perfect for solos or pushing your amp into overdrive.
